Professional leadership skills
We have to admit, there is much truth to the statement, “leadership is the only profession you can perform without knowing a thing about it”. Leadership as a profession is something most leaders learn after having taken an education, or being trained in one or more professions.
You could say that what you should be ABLE TO do as a leader should be mastered at a professional level. Much in the same way you have professional skills in the type of business you are in or being a specialist within a field. This requires a verbal language for management and leadership, as well as business skills and interpersonal skills.
Many competences are involved in mastering management and leadership, and most of us spend most of our life training in order to become better. When we work with developing leaders and organizations to act and create results, we can not and should not cover all skills.
